Health & Safety Policy

Introduction

KAM Computing & Consulting Engineers is an experienced information technology and electrical engineering company which provides consistent and reliable computing and electrical engineering services to all sectors of the economy. These services include the development, design, installation, maintenance and repairs of electrical engineering and information technology infrastructure & equipment. We focus on sustainable technological businesses within public & private sectors and actively support the development of local communities, growth and development aspirations.

This can be achieved by adopting health & safety management as a business imperative for sustainable business performance and improvement.

The implementation of this policy will be measured progressively to ensure sustainable excellence in health & safety management. Accountability will be held by the Chief Executive Officer, Section.16 (1) of the OHS Act no.85 of 1993. Compliance with the Health & Safety Policy and applicable regulations shall be the responsibility of every employee of the company

Health & safety management will ensure business optimisation and improvement through:

  • Compliance with the OHS Act, no 0f 1993 and Regulations as amended;
  • Safe and healthy working conditions for employees and subcontractors;
  • Safeguarding the health and safety of all those affected by our operations;
  • To assess the specific risks arising from work activities and to introduce measures to eliminate or reduce those risks

Compliance with the Health & Safety Policy will facilitate the achievement of KAM Computing & Consulting Engineers strategic objectives.

POLICY- STATEMENT OF INTENT

It is the policy of KAM Computing & Consulting Engineers to commit to the principles of sustainable development, to safeguard the wellbeing of its employees, subcontractors and the public during our installation, maintenance and repair activities.

This is in line with our corporate vision of working towards international best practices in plant operations, business integrity, social responsibility, environment, health, safety and quality products and services.

In line with this, our commitment is to:

  • Comply with the OHS Act 1993 and its regulations and seek to apply international standards where relevant;
  • establish an appropriate management system that is OHSAS 18001 compliant to address related issues with a view to minimising risk and by conducting performance monitoring and measurement;
  • ensure that health & safety is an integral part of our operations and that no operating condition, or urgency of service, justifies exposing anyone to negative risks causing an incident or accident to an employee;
  • Introduce health and safety programs and procedures including setting objectives for continuous improvement,
  • ensure that the health & safety objectives are periodically reviewed to achieve sustainable performance levels;
  • ensure a rapid and appropriate response to incidents/accidents and conduct a thorough investigation of a fatality resulting from our work activities and report it to the Department of Labour;
  • provide and maintain safe systems of work for all employees when conducting installation, maintenance and repair activities;
  • ensure that our suppliers and service providers integrate health & safety objectives into their operations;
  • ensure that the health & safety objectives and criteria are entrenched in our procurement and decision-making processes;
  • To update and review this policy on an annual basis.

Environmental Policy

The implementation of this policy will be measured progressively to ensure sustainable excellence in environmental management. Accountability will be held by the Chief Executive of Officer, Section.16 (1) of the OHS Act appointee. Compliance with the Environmental Policy and applicable regulations shall be

the responsibility of every employee of the company

Environmental management will ensure business optimization and improvement through:

  • Compliance with the NEM Act, 1998 and regulations as amended;
  • Implementation of an environmental management system;
  • Lowering the risk of environmental incidents affected by our operations;
  • To assess the specific environmental risks arising from our work activities and to introduce measures to eliminate or reduce those risks

Compliance with the Environmental Policy will facilitate the achievement of KAM Computing & Consulting Engineers strategic objectives.

POLICY- STATEMENT OF INTENT

It is the policy of KAM Computing & Consulting Engineers to commit to the principles of sustainable development, to safeguard the environment in which it operates during maintenance and repairs activities.

We shall develop, implement, and maintain the entire electricity services value chain so as to supply reliable and affordable services within a challenging business, social, natural, and political environment, without compromising future sustainability. This is in line with the corporate vision working towards international best practices in plant operations & environmental management;

In line with this, our commitment is to:

  • Comply with the NEM Act. 1998 and its regulations and seek to apply international standards where relevant;
  • Establish an appropriate management system that is ISO 14001 compliant to address related issues with a view to minimizing risk and by conducting performance monitoring and measurement;
  • Ensure that environmental concerns are an integral part of our operations and that no operating condition, or urgency of service, justifies exposing anyone to negative risks causing environmental spillages or leakages;
  • Introduce environmental programs and procedures including setting objectives for continuous improvement & are periodically reviewed;
  • Ensure the effective separation, handling, storage and disposal of waste;
  • Ensure a rapid and appropriate response to environmental incidents/accidents and conduct a thorough investigation of a major incident and the corrective & preventive measures to be implemented and report it to the Department of Environmental Affairs;
  • Provide and maintain clean systems of work to prevent pollution when conducting installation, maintenance and repair activities;
  • Ensure that our suppliers and service providers integrate environmental objectives into their operations;
  • Ensure that the environmental objectives are entrenched in our procurement and decision-making processes;
  • To update and review this policy on an annual basis.
